If you have never used a bread maker before and you decided to give one a try, Panasonic SD-YD250 can be a great start that will not disappoint you. It’s a compact vertical model with a clean design and a variety of features that guarantee delicious bread following many recipes. Although it doesn’t bring any innovation compared to other models, it will certainly become your favorite for making bread or dough. You can have it for prices starting at $128 and going up to $180, depending on the seasonal offer.

Performance and features

Choose to eat healthy bread without the preservatives and additives in the bread you buy in stores with this efficient product from Panasonic, a reliable and trustworthy manufacturer. The bread is easily baked in around 2 hours and the result will be a rectangular vertical loaf with a nice crust and a fluffy interior. It’s a very good product that keeps an even temperature with its 550 watts cooking power so you can make anything from traditional recipes to personal creations and the kneading blade thoroughly mixes all the ingredients together. In case you want hot bread in the morning, you can use the 13-hour delay timer that starts the unit at a certain time selected by you. This works for recipes that don’t require your intervention

Programs and settings

You will get excellent results from this appliance that mixes the ingredients, kneads all types of dough, rises, and bakes a variety of bread that suits everyone’s tastes. The controls allow you to select between white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French bread. You can knead dough for pizza, cake, or rolls and you can simply bake a dough that you made yourself, all thanks to its convenience. The baking modes include Bake Only that is great for fruitcakes, gingerbread, and teacakes, Rapid Bake that reduces the baking time of basic and whole-wheat bread so you will wait less, Raisin for bread with all types of nuts and Sandwich that produces a soft crust bread. Dough modes include Pizza, Rolls, and Raisin Dough. For bread that includes raisins or nuts, there isn’t a special compartment that would add them at the right time, but there is a beep signal that lets you know when it’s time to add them. This will keep you from setting the unit to bake seeds bread on itself, which will limit your choices. What it does have is an automatic yeast dispenser located in the lid that releases the yeast at the right time during the recipe. You can set the crust to turn out low, medium or dark thanks to the crust control on the panel. We couldn’t help to notice that no review said it could make jam like many other similar products, which is a drawback.

Design and Accessories

With the SD-YD250, you can select from 3 loaf sizes, namely medium, large, and extra-large, that weigh a pound, 2 pounds or 2 and a half pounds, so you can adapt it to the size and needs of your family. The 14 x 13.5 x 9 inches it measures and the 15 pounds it weighs make it perfect for daily use on the counter or for shelf storage when you are done with it. The white housing is easy to match into a variety of kitchen decors and the soft-touch LCD digital display with push-button control panel help you figure out each setting easily. It doesn’t have a window on the lid to let you know what is happening inside. There is only one pan that holds each loaf size and it’s made of a non-stick material that lets the bread out without effort. You simply pull it out from the handle and the bread will come out perfectly even. The LCD display comes with an indicator light that lets you know when a certain cycle is over and the unit is designed with a safety fuse and a power interruption protection that resumes the baking process in case the power goes off. It comes with a measuring spoon, a measuring cup, and a recipe book with over 50 recipes for the most delicious bread specialties.
